Billy Poole

BILLY POOLE, age 69, Homer, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, following a sudden illness.

Mr. Poole was born in Banks County, Georgia on March 25, 1943, to the late Jewell and Janie Parson Poole. He was a charter member of Charity Baptist Church currently serving as chairman of the deacons and was a Sunday school teacher for most of his adult life. He retired from Habersham Metal as a production engineer with 39 years of loyal and dedicated service. Also he was still very active on his farm.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Whitfield Poole, Homer, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy and Brant Langston, Homer, GA and Rhonda and Jeff Gowder, Westminster, SC; sisters, Annette Cape, and Charlotte Parks both of Gillsville, GA; brothers, Ralph Poole, Gillsville, GA and Leroy Poole, Mt. Airy, GA; four grandchildren, Shannon Gowder, Misty Gowder, Drew and his wife Christen Gowder, and Alexis Langston and one great-grandchild, Peyton Gowder.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012, from Charity Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Smith and Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Poole will lie in state at the church prior to the service from 10:30 until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012, from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin.
