Brenda Cape Barnes, age 80, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026.
Mrs. Barnes was born on December 30, 1945 in Hall County, Georgia to the late Nelson Cape and Maude Mae Schuler Cape. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Gene Cape, Glenn Cape, AC Cape; sisters, Geraldine (Steve) Canada; and Libby Ball.
Brenda was a Godly woman of the Baptist faith. She lived her life with love for her family and a strong devotion to those she held dear. Brenda retired from Standard Telephone after more than 20 years of dedicated service. Outside of her work, she found great joy in the simple things in life. She loved cooking and baking for those she loved, and she enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and camping.
Above all, Brenda treasured her family. She and her husband, Keith, shared a strong and devoted marriage built upon many years of love and commitment to one another. During the last 10 years, as Brenda required additional care at home, Keith remained faithfully by her side, lovingly and devotedly caring for her. Brenda was deeply grateful for his dedication, and their marriage was a beautiful example of love through every season of life. One of Brenda’s greatest joys was being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life, and she was immensely proud of each of them. She cherished the time they shared and considered it a special honor to be known affectionately as “BB.” That name represented a role she treasured and a love that will continue through the lives of her grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Keith Barnes, of Cornelia; daughter, Jennifer McDaniel, of Griffin; daughter and son-in-law, Lorri and Mack Turner, of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Henry McDaniel, Lucy McDaniel, Max Turner, Annie Turner, and Charlie Turner; sisters, Linda Adams, of Gainesville; Connie (Lem) Foster, of Macon; Vicki Lester, of Sautee Nachoochee; sister-in-law, Joy Cape, of Gainesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 5, 2026 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Mr. Rusty Reese officiating. Interment will follow at the Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sunday, October 4, 2026 at the funeral home.
