Christine Masters Johnson

CHRISTINE MASTERS JOHNSON, age 68, of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014 following an extended illness. Mrs. Johnson was born on December 12, 1945 in Conyers, Georgia; daughter of the late J.D. and Mytrice Masters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Haymon "Hammer" Garnett Johnson; son, Tommy Lee Vaughn, and brother, Harland Masters. Mrs. Johnson had been associated with Fieldale Farms, Short Mfg., and Baldwin Garment, in addition to being a full time wife, mother, granny and great-grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Hayes, Alto; sons, Joshua Johnson, Alto, Kenneth Butcher, Mt. Airy, Tracey Butcher, Alto, Robbie Butcher, Alto; sister, Betty Fordhum, Gray; brother, Terry Masters, Alto; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 PM Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Terry Benfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014.
