Don Caudell

DONALD D. "DON" CAUDELL, age 73, of Clarkesville, Georgia, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Caudell was born on January 8, 1936 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Worth and Aldene Dawkins Caudell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Caudell, and a sister, Ann Langston. Mr. Caudell was a United States Navy veteran. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and was very active in his community. Mr. Caudell served on the Clarkesville City Council and was the current Chairman of the Board of Directors of HEMC where he had served for the past 18 years. He was the owner of Caudell Grading and Contracting. Survivors include: his wife of 56 years: Melba Keller Caudell, Clarkesville, GA; his daughter and son-in-law: Donna Caudell Hulsey and David Hulsey, Athens, GA; his son and daughter-in-law: Greg Caudell and Tracy Caudell, Clarkesville, GA; his grandchildren: Jennifer Hulsey, Atlanta, GA; Lindsay Hulsey, Charleston, SC; Natalie Caudell and Matt Caudell, both of Clarkesville, GA; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Kenneth A. and Marilyn Caudell, Lexington, KY; Michael D. and Patt Caudell, Jacksonville, FL; Special sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Elese and Marvin Fortenberry, Demorest, GA; Loyal friend and co-worker: Lowell Elrod, Demorest, GA. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Cashion and Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Private interment will be held in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia from 5 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and again on Wednesday at the church from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour.
