Doris Suggs Payne

Mrs. Doris Suggs Payne, age 81 of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, April 07, 2010, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Payne was born in Habersham County, GA on January 21, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Grover C. and Dora Free Suggs. Mrs. Payne was also preceded in death by her husband, Rayge Payne, great-grandchildren, Casey Simmons, Kevin and Kayla Simmons, brothers, Ralph and Jake Suggs, sisters, Monteen Murphy and Evelyeen Suggs . She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and retired as a seamstress at Carwood Manufacturing with 30 years of dedicated service. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and James Simmons; sister, Bobbie Harrison, all of Cornelia, GA; 3 grandchildren, Ginger Miranda, Joy and Jeff White and Scott Simmons; 2 great-grandchildren, Haley and Grason White. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Morris and Rev. Lloyd Free officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the South Chapel in Baldwin from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010.
