Elma Jean Simpson

Elma Jean Simpson, age 67, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. Mrs. Simpson was born on February 5, 1949, in Rabun County, Georgia to the late Sam L. and Frances Irene Tyler Holden. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Carlton Holden, James Holden; sisters, Betty Sue Holden and Judy Richards. Mrs. Simpson was a member of Clarkesville Church of God. She was the retired food service supervisor at The Oaks at Scenic View. Mrs. Simpson was a loving wife, mother, nana, and mother-in-law. She loved her family, cooking for her family, and loved being cooked for. Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Wayne Simpson, Cornelia, GA; daughter, Ginger Armour, Mt. Airy, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Tonya and Chad Suttles, Lula, GA, Catrina and Chris Britton, Cornelia, GA; sisters, Genelle Looney, Patsy Gibson, Reba Hunter, Martha Holden, Lynn Hatton; brothers, Charles Holden, Buster Derrick, Andy Derrick; five grandchildren: Jonathan Armour, Matthew and Chelsea Armour, Noah Britton, Max Britton, and Michael Suttles. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. O. L. McCullough and Rev. Lester Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.
