George Mason

GEORGE MASON, age 69, of Banks County, Georgia, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Mason was born on November 12, 1939 in Homer, Georgia to the late John and Carrie Beck Mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Betsy West, a son, Allen Mason, and a sister, Frances Mason, as well as brothers, Roger Mason and John Harold Mason. He was a member of the Homer Presbyterian Church. Mr. Mason was retired from Orbit Manufacturing Company with 26 years of service as Plant Manager. Survivors include: his daughter-in-law: Jerri Mason, Baldwin, GA; his sisters: Helen Harrison, Gainesville, GA; Virginia Hood, Helen, GA; his brothers: T. I. Mason and Swayne Mason, both of Cornelia, GA; 4 grandchildren: Carrie Beth Chastain, Wilmington, NC; Jake Mills, Lex Mason, and Rebecca Irvin, all of Baldwin, GA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2009 from the Homer Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Bryson and Rev. Terrell Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia from 3 until 5 and 7 until 9 p.m. on Sunday.
