Henry C. Cameron, age 90, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Mr. Cameron was born on September 3, 1935 in Albany, Georgia to the late Henry C. Cameron, Sr. and Lucille Cameron. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joanne Ballew Cameron; sons, Alan H. Cameron, Robert "Bobby" Cameron; grandson, Michael Preston Cameron; and sister, Martha Dunbar.
A proud member of the South Habersham High School Class of 1955, Henry graduated before answering the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving honorably from 1955 to 1958 aboard the USS Princeton. Following his time in the Navy, Henry began a distinguished career with Standard Telephone, where he faithfully served for 39 years. During the early years of his career, he lived and worked in Dahlonega, Georgia. While there, he became a beloved mentor to countless young people through his dedication to coaching Peewee Football and Little League. Later, Henry returned to his hometown of Habersham County, where he continued his career with Standard Telephone until his retirement. His strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment earned the respect and admiration of his coworkers and friends throughout his nearly four decades of service.
Above all else, Henry treasured his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Survivors include daughters, Regina Cameron, of Cornelia, Marcia Cameron Benton, Cornelia; grandson, Christopher Cameron; grandson and spouse, Robert Henry Benton and Grace Benton; great-granddaughter, Hailey Grace Benton.
Memorial Services will be held at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Scott Ledbetter officiating and military honors provided by the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the funeral home prior to the service.
