John Roy White

Roy White, age 82, of Cornelia, Georgia died Friday, January 04, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. White was born on July 19, 1925 in Banks County, Georgia to the late Paul F. and Lucy B. Moss White. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred and Wilton White, sister, Ruby Wood and first wife Esther Jane Parker White. Mr. White was a member of the Hillside Baptist Church; there he served as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher as well as church treasury for the Georgia Baptist Children's Fund. He was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict; while serving he was awarded the Purple Heart for Valor. Mr. White was retired from Johnson and Johnson with 36 years of dedicated service. Survivors include: wife: Betty White, Cornelia, GA; step-daughter: Carolyn Waldon, Cornelia, GA; sons: Johnny White, Maineville, OH, Ronald White, Fayetteville, GA; step-son: Mitchell Lewallen, Alto, GA; sisters: Marie Wood, Fayetteville, GA; Ruth White, Milledgeville, GA; 5 grandchildren: Jaime Adkins, Kyle Waldon, Megan Ivie, Lisa Mills, and Whitney Lewallen; 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2007 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA with Rev. Larry Free, Rev. Billy Burrell, and Rev. Billy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Line Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
