Johnnie Bea Coleman, age 86, of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
Mrs. Coleman was born February 24, 1940 in Eastman, Georgia to the late George Taylor and Hattie Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Coleman; siblings, Edward Taylor, Barney Taylor, Robert Taylor, Bobbie Broadnax, Margie Lester.
She was of the Baptist faith, Johnnie found great comfort and encouragement in listening to the sermons of Pastor Jentezen Franklin. Johnnie had a creative spirit and found joy in reading and sewing. She was especially gifted at making beautiful quilts, each one stitched with care and love, becoming treasured keepsakes for family and friends. She also enjoyed watching Star Trek, with Star Trek: Voyager holding a special place among her favorites.
More than anything, Johnnie cherished her family. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother, a caring sister, and a proud grandmother. Her grandchildren lovingly knew her by many special names, including "Nanny," "Gam-Ma," and "Grandma Johnnie," each reflecting the unique bond she shared with those she loved most. Her gentle heart, warm smile, and unwavering love created countless memories that her family will carry with them forever.
Survivors include her daughter, Laura Peffer, of Carson City, NV; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Allen Costa, of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Carolyn Coleman, Ft. Payne, AL; sister, Gloria Sheffield, of McRae, GA; grandchildren, Lisa and Denis Ozowara, Candace Peffer, Joshua Coleman, Jason and Kimi Costa, Anthony Foxworth and Brandy Wadyka, Cameron and Whitney Costa, Jeremy Costa; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Westview Cemetery in Lula, Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel.
