Martha "Kitty" Thompson Stephens, age 84, of Demorest, Georgia formerly of Milton, Florida entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 5, 2026.
Ms. Stephens was born on December 21, 1941 in Durham, North Carolina to the late James and Josephine Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lamar Stephens; brother, Jimmy Thompson; and one grandchild.
For more than 50 years, Martha and her beloved husband proudly owned and operated several restaurants throughout Florida. Together, they dedicated their lives to serving their communities through their family business before retiring from the restaurant industry. Outside of work, Martha found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved sewing and knitting, creating handmade treasures for those she loved. She also enjoyed taking trips to the casino, where she found excitement and fun while trying her luck. Before the passing of her husband, the two shared many happy adventures camping and fishing together. One of Martha's favorite places was the beach, where she found peace, happiness, and lasting memories. Above all else, Martha's greatest joy was her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and proud great-grandmother. To those who knew and loved her best, she was simply "Nana", a name that brought comfort, warmth, and unconditional love.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Renee Stephens, of Clarkesville; daughters, Lori Stephens, of Bushnell, FL; Donna Stephens, of Lake Panosoki, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Ann Thompson, of Apex, NC; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ms. Stephen's wishes were to be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.
Kitty donated to many organizations throughout her life. The family respectfully request that memorial donations be made to the charity of one's choice in her memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory, North Chapel
