MITCH (BIG DADDY) LEWALLEN, age 65 of Cornelia, GA passed away Friday, August 28, 2015. Mitch (Big Daddy) was born October 4, 1949 in Clarkesville, GA to the late Waymon Lewallen and mother, Betty Dailey Lewallen White. He was a graduate of Truett McConnell College, a member of the Tates Creek Baptist Church and the Warren T. Wilkinson Sunday School Class. Mr. Lewallen was a retired manager at Mount Vernon Mills with 43 years' service, where he played Santa's helper for many years. He was a life member of NRA and was an active Boy Scout leader. Mr. Lewallen was active in sports for over 30 years, participating in Special Olympics, United Way, American cancer Society and Relay for Life. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, hunting, fishing and working on his farm. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Roy White. He is survived by his wife, Gail Mote Lewallen; mother, Betty Dailey Lewallen White; daughters and spouses, Lisa and Mike Mills of Mt. Airy, and Whittney and Drew Branson of Alto; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Nick Waldon of Cornelia; sisters-in-law, Barbara Eller, Linda Mullinax, and Janice Wood; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Sara Dailey of Cornelia; "Big Daddy" also had five grandchildren, Karagan and Elijah Branson, Logan Jackson, and Charlie and Allie Mills. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Tates Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jerrell Beatty and Whittney Branson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tates Creek Baptist Church, Building Fund, Homer Road, Toccoa, GA 30577 or Hillside Baptist Church, Building Fund, 324 Level Grove Rd., Cornelia, GA 30531.
