Rev. Lester Haynes

Rev. Lester Haynes, age 75, of Baldwin, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2017 following an extended illness. Rev. Haynes was born on October 5, 1941 in Baldwin, Georgia to the late Sam and Annie Mae Thomas Haynes. He was preceded in death by twin great-grandchildren, Aiden and Ava Stokes; twin brother, Vester Haynes; sisters, Bobbie Savage, and Caroline Haynes. Rev. Haynes was a member of Mount Vernon Holiness Church having served there as Pastor for 29 years. He had served as a Minister with a total of 53 years of service to his Lord. Rev. Haynes was a bi-vocational Pastor and worked outside the church as well. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Frances Haynes, of Baldwin; daughter, Laura Rose, of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Lamar and Elaine Haynes, of Clarkesville; sister, Flora Mae Duncan, of Minnesota; brother Y.D. Haynes, of Lula; grandchildren, Jessica Williamson and husband, Brad, Jamie Haynes, Justin Haynes, Cary Rose III, Ashley Stokes, and husband Tre; great-grandchildren, Gabe Stokes, Mya Stokes, Logan Mott, and Dylan Haynes. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Sanford Kimbrell and Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Baldwin City Cemetery with Rev. Jr. Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2017, and 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the funeral home.
