Robert James Derrick

ROBERT JAMES DERRICK, age 84, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Habersham County Medical Center. Mr. Derrick was born on November 15, 1926, in Port Arthur, Texas. He was a son of the late Lyman Gladstone Derrick and Nell Long Derrick. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon T. Dick. Mr. Derrick was a proud United States Army veteran having served in World War II. He was employed with TVA Power Authority for 10 years. He was also a retired power plant operator with the Panama Canal Zone for 25 years. Mr. Derrick was a member of the ANCON Masonic Lodge F & A.M., the Scottish Rite, the Shriner's, and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. Survivors include his loving wife, Nellie Cagle Derrick, Cornelia, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Julia D. and Michael P. Beaudoin, Greenville, SC; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert J. Derrick, Jr. and Cynthia, Tacoma, WA and David G. and Joan Derrick, Elizabethtown, KY; sister, Patricia Wood, Flowery Branch, GA; brothers, Leon Derrick, Austin, TX and David Mize, Clayton, GA; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Steve Doran officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
