Swayne Lewallen

SWAYNE LEWALLEN, age 84, of Nails Creek Community, Homer, GA passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010. Mr. Lewallen was born in Banks County, GA on March 27, 1926, to the late James W. and Madge Coffee Lewallen. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Jannette Watkins, brothers, Owen and Nelson Lewallen. Mr. Lewallen served in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of the Nails Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for a number of years and was also a member of the Heaven Bound Sunday School Class. Mr. Lewallen retired after many years as the owner and operator of the Nails Creek Gas Company. Survivors include wife, Lynn Parks Lewallen, Homer, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Ruzelle and Milton Patterson, Homer, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clay and Peggy Lewallen and Ray and Glenda Lewallen, all of Baldwin, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Nails Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Duane Eller officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Lewallen will lie in state at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the service hour. The family will receive friends at the South Chapel in Baldwin from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
