Thelma Jean Krikland

Thelma Jean Kirkland, age 91, of Clarkesville, Georgia, peacefully passed away on July 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 18, 1934, she was the cherished daughter of the late Jeffie Woodson Jones and Rosie Estelle Blair-Jones of Palmetto, Georgia. Thelma Jean lived a life defined by grace, kindness, and an unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Above all else, she deeply loved her family.

A deeply spiritual woman, Thelma Jean walked through life with a profound and personal relationship with God. Her faith was her anchor, guiding her steps and inspiring everyone around her. She was widely known for her unselfish service to others, always looking for ways to lift up and care for those in need. For 91 years, she blessed the world with her warmth and her beautiful smile. She spent her life creating a warm, cozy, and welcoming environment for everyone who knew her, and her incredible hospitality, unconditional love, and Christ-like spirit left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who entered her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward; her cherished son, Woody; her parents; and her siblings.

Her legacy of love and faith will be carried on by her devoted children: her son Rodney, her daughter Stephanie, her daughter Sonya, and her son Keith. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and precious great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of extended family and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

A celebration of Thelma Jean’s beautiful life and faith will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 205 Dennis Cash Road, Mt. Airy, GA 30563.
