Funeral services for Virginia Ayers Crocker, 83, of Cornelia will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Whitfield Funeral Home North Chapel with Dr. James Harper and Rev. Grady Walden officiating. Burial will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA from 2-4 and 6-9p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2009. Mrs. Crocker died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Born May 31, 1926 in Cornelia, she was the daughter of the late P.D. Ayers Sr. and Myrtle Anne Garrison Ayers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Grady F. Crocker. Mrs. Crocker had a sweet, loving spirit and touched the lives of everyone that knew her. She retired from Habersham County School System as a teacher's aide, and then went on to volunteer for Habersham County Medical Center, where she accumulated more than 10,300 hours of service throughout her lifetime. She was a member of Clarkesville Baptist Church and played the piano there for more than 30 years. She was a devoted and caring mother and mother-in-law to Joe and Lerryn Crocker of Clarkesville and Anne Crocker Christol of Demorest. She was a loving grandmother to Elizabeth Sisk Lewallen and Kenneth of Demorest and to Hayes Culbertson and Ginny Crocker, both of Clarkesville. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Peyton and Tyson Lewallen, both of Demorest. Survivors also include her siblings, P.D. Ayers Jr. of Cornelia, Dot Martin of Toccoa, and Peggy Riner of Milledgeville and the siblings of her late husband: Mattie Lee Snyder, M.J. Crocker, and W.T. Jr. and Edna Crocker, all of Cornelia, and Otis and Patsy Crocker of Greenville, S.C., Robert and Latrelle Crocker of Liberty, S.C., and Curtis and Jeanette Crocker of Oakwood.
