Wallace "Richard" Maney

Wallace "Richard" Maney, age 94, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Mr. Maney was born on January 25, 1932 in Banks County, Georgia to the late Roland Richard Maney and Rosie Mae White Maney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mitchell Maney; and brothers, Voice Maney, A.B. Maney, Rad Maney, Milus Maney, Jewell Maney, Clyde Maney, Robert Maney, Monroe Maney; sisters, Irene Maney, Willie Ree Dorsey.

Richard Maney was a proud veteran who honorably served his country in both the United States Air Force and the United States Navy. He served four years in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, followed by an additional four years of service in the Navy. Following his military service, Richard devoted 22 years of service to the City of Toccoa, where he worked as a supply clerk. Through his years of employment, he contributed to the daily operations of the city and faithfully served his community.

Richard was a member of Good News Baptist Church in Cornelia, where he was part of a church family that shared in his faith. He was also a proud member of the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720 and the Cornelia Masonic Lodge #92 F&AM.

Survivors include his son, Robert Richard Maney, of Demorest; sister, Winnie Gabrel, of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Macy Maney, Griffin Maney, and LaKeyda Underwood; great-grandchild, Landon, Eliza, Daytona, Mason, and Christian; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2026 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Austin Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and the Grant Reeves Honor Guard. Masonic Rites will conclude the graveside, provided by the Cornelia Masonic Lodge #92 F&AM.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2026 at the funeral home prior to the service.
