William Bryant "Bill" Jones, age 76, of Alto, Georgia went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Mr. Jones was born on January 24, 1950 in Jacksonville, North Carolina to the late Howard and Helen Jones.

Bill was a proud graduate and lifelong alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned his degree in Business Marketing. While at Chapel Hill, he answered the call to serve his country and was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy in 1972. In 1973, Bill completed Naval Flight Officer training and advanced training in the P-3B Orion patrol aircraft. He was assigned to Patrol Squadron duty at Naval Air Station Barbers Point in Hawaii, where he proudly served on active duty until 1977. Upon attaining the rank of Lieutenant, Bill transitioned to the United States Naval Reserve, continuing his service for two more years while flying out of Naval Air Station Glenview, Illinois, before relocating to Georgia.

Following his military service, Bill built an outstanding career in business marketing. Above all else, Bill's greatest joy was his family. He shared a lifetime of love with his beloved wife, Linda, whom he adored. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Bill was a devoted father to his daughters, Jennifer and Julie, and took immense pride in the women they became. One of his greatest blessings was becoming "Papa" to his grandchildren, a role he embraced wholeheartedly.

Bill found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid runner and an enthusiastic reader who never stopped learning. He lovingly tended both his flower and vegetable gardens, finding peace and satisfaction in watching things grow. He also treasured the companionship of his beloved cat, Loki. Bill was a member of Cornelia Methodist Church, Bill lived his life guided by faith, humility, and compassion. His quiet strength, generous heart, and steadfast character touched countless lives.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Cassell, of Alto; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Wallace and Christopher Lund, of Denver, CO; daughter, Julie Jones, of Atlanta; step-children, Chuck Cassell, of Alto; Jackie Cassell, of Gainesville; Casey Cassell, of Tucker; Sam Cassell, of Redding, CA; grandchildren, Tre Everson, Priscilla Wallace, Viviana Lund; sister, Ava Morgan; brothers, Emmett Jones, Howard Jones, and John Jones.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Cornelia Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Kanipe officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the church prior to the service.
